why can't i type into a pdf.file?

<p>i'm applying for a scholarship through scholarship america and the application is a pdf.file. i tried typing into the file, but it won't let me. </p>

<p>is it the application or my computer? i am applying to georgetown and i can type into their pdf.files.</p>

<p>i have adobe version 8, which is the latest version.</p>

<p>Some pdfs are "fillable" and some aren't. It is a pain when they are not, basically all you can do is print them on paper and fill them in by hand.</p>
