I heard that transfer students at UCLA/UC Berkley cannot change their majors once they get in.

Can someone explain? it just doesn't make sense to me. Why can't they change their majors?

Thanks

You can change your major. It takes approximately 30 seconds. I'm speaking from experience. The only majors that you'd have a pain switching into are the heavily impacted ones

Do you have to have all the prereqs done already for the major you're trying to switch into though?

I heard u can't change majors once u get in.I asked my counselor too . He told me the same thing.I'm an Asian hunanities major,I know what I want to do but I'm not sure this is something I want to do the rest of my life...my local ccc doesn't offer any classes for my major so I'm just taking all the GEs.

Don't believe everything your counselor tells you. In this case, he's wrong, except for impacted majors.

To be sure, give UCLA an email (specifically the major department).

You don't need all the prereqs for a non-impacted major. I'm think there may be some computer-based check into whether it's possible for you to graduate under the unit limit, but that's all (if it's even there)
