Why choose Bowdoin?

I’ve done my fair share of research. Bowdoin looks like a good bet for me, academically/score wise. I love the east coast, and I’ve always really liked Maine. Polar bears are awesome. Logically, Bowdoin seems like it would be right up my alley.
I’m a nervous person, though, and as I’ve been applying to schools, I keep checking and rechecking my list. Since I’ve never been out to visit Bowdoin, I’m worried that I haven’t been able to get a good feel for the school. Is there anything anyone can tell me to shed some light on the matter? What kind of students go here? What’s an average day like? Why should I apply/go here?
Thanks so much :)

There’s really no way for anyone on CC to answer your question, we’re not you. You can explore the Bowdoin website to get the answers you want, but that’s advertising copy. Anyone who answers here is not much better, they bring their own biases to the table, both positive and negative.

You might want to apply, since it’s a paper match so far, but you’ll want to visit before accepting. It would not be rational to apply ED, if that’s even on your radar.

Your questions are very general and have been discussed many, many times on many Bowdoin threads here.

Liking Maine and liking polar bears are not logical reasons to think Bowdoin is right for you. It may be, I don’t know, but you need to start with some research of your own. Having scores in the right range is only a tiny piece. There are forums here and elsewhere, dozens of books with student reviews of the college. With SLACs it is so important to get on campus if you can, but start by digging a little deeper.

Thanks everyone, good advice! Sorry for not being clear.
Just to clarify, the thing about polar bears was a joke ;)
