why colgate?

did anyone visit the campus and fell in love w/ it? how is the atmosphere (for studying, not partying) and how far is it from the nearest airport? Do they have decent science programs?

I thought the campus was the nicest of any of the schools I had seen. It was actually ranked 1/324 from a guy who's spent his life touring US colleges.

<a href="http://www.colgate.edu/DesktopDefau...=6013&nwID=4077%5B/url%5D">http://www.colgate.edu/DesktopDefau...=6013&nwID=4077</a></p>

The atmosphere for studying is good. People care a good bit about about academics too and most are well balanced between the two. The Syracuse airport is about 45-60 minutes away. Colgate is strong in Geology, Physics and Chemistry and is a top 10 LAC in sending its students on to PhDs in these subjects, but not as good in Biology.

As one who is still hoping to get OFF the wait-list, I can say I thought the campus is beautiful. But then, I love rural environs. The campus and surrounding area are nicer than almost any campus I visited (22 at last count); although I loved the Dartmouth, Middlebury, Williams, and Trinity campuses but the surrounding areas were not as beautiful. (Trinity is in a truly crappy area but I love the college and I think the campus proper is great). The airport is a little more than an hour's drive from campus through farm country. I visited a couple of times and got the sense that it is a pretty serious school with regards to academics. The only thing that bothers me more and more over time is that it seems really remote. I am from a very big city and worry that while the peace and serenity of of a small town will be attractive for about a year, I will perversely come to miss the excitement that an area with a crushing 10 million people has to offer. That said, I am still hoping for good news on the wait-list.

good, i like physics and chem. but the problems is whether ill get in. :(

Apply ED. It's the difference between ~ 45% acceptence rate vs. ~ 25% acceptence rate.

but i need FA and im an intel, so i think any binding decision is not a good idea.

Is Intel some kind of science award? If so, I would think you should definitely be able to get into Colgate, even RD.

in britain colgate is the name of a maker of toothpaste. is this true in the US as well?

I think he means he's an inte rnationa l

Ah, got it. International is a different story.

LOL, xedx, YES IT IS.

oh, and im and international.
