"Why Columbia" 600 with OR without spaces?

We are flummoxed temporarily. Daughter just tried to upload her Word document "Why Columbia" text into the Columbia app. It is precisely 600 characters excluding spaces. The Columbia Application "box" will not upload in entirety, cutting off the last summary sentence.

What's the story here? Must the "Why Columbia" essay be 600 characters inclusive of spaces? I've read so much back and forth about this. Does anyone know the correct answer? Thank you very much.

Test it out on the space provided.

It is 300 characters.

Upload? You’re supposed to fit your response in the little box. Characters includes letters, symbols, and spaces.

Ok then. Characters include spaces, all fitting into the box. (I didn’t know it wasn’t an upload, sorry).

Was the space changed this year? I heard it was 300 chars but the box says 600.

okay I just want to make sure I interpreted the why columbia question correctly.

When they asked to say what we find most appealing about columbia and why, they want us to talk about one particular thing right? Not a variety of things? There’s multiple things that I love, but my interpretation was to just choose one thing, and elaborate.

Thanks

From what I’ve gathered, the Why Columbia is 600 characters inclusive of spaces. Word checks both words, characters with and without spaces so it’s simple for you to track.

Hope, I think it could be answered either way, multiple appeals or singular. Perhaps others will be kind and chime in.

Thanks Columbia14 for your specific answer and good luck everyone.

You can talk about more than one thing, but don’t just list what you like. Focus on a few things, but make sure to go into specific details.

thanks guys! that helps. i guess i’ll just focus on one thing and get into details with that since it’s hard to say a lot with that 600 character limit.
