for the why columbia paragraph, considering the cha limit, should it be more straight out and pretty much just stating WHY, rather than the descriptive stuff we all seem to right for the main essay? cuz there were about 3-4 reasons that I really wanted to cover, and writing in the style i used for the main essay would only let me cover 1, although it will probably really convey that one reason effectively. (novel-like writing is more of my forte, too.) which approach should i go with?

for strict word limits, being terse and extremely direct, with absolutely no wasted words, is probably a preferable way to go. you can’t write great prose in a small number of words; they’re expect content, not form.
