I made a thread in the general forum. But maybe I would get more response here…

Well I am considering Davis, UCSB, and Purdue. But I am at crossroads at all three colleges. Each having there own weaknesses and strengths. Also, I plan on appealing to UCSD and I would choose that over the three. But, I wouldn’t mind going to these three if it does not pass.

I plan on majoring in Electrical, Chemical, or Bio Engineering. I got into Purdue for Undecided within Engineering, Davis and SB for Undeclared Physical Sciences/ College of Letters and science. I applied for undeclared to not risk rejection, I have seen that major change can be done with the right classes and a maintained GPA, so I am not too worried about that.

Davis seems to be a nice college, right now I am favoring it, but still am not completely sure… Purdue has the Engineering prestige (#9 in the country), but I hear its very difficult and weeds people out. SB seems to be a nice engineering school as well. The thing about SB is that the party school nature of it actually makes me shaky because I want to stay concentrated in college. I want to have fun, but I do not want to go over the top.

Price is kind of an issue. My parents will pay for Purdue if I want to go, but I think it will be 10k more. I want to know if its that much better then the other two that I have to leave CA and go there.

I plan on going to Grad school, so essentially I want to pick the best school for Grad school.

I lived in/by Purdue when I was a child so I know the surroundings, I plan on visiting the other two in the coming weeks.

So, please CC, help me out? Thank You!

[Latest University Rankings: Biomedical Engineering Rankings](http://latestuniversityranking.blogspot.com/2008/01/biomedical-engineering-rankings.html)

i gotta go hahaha i would have searched the other majors for you but i’m busy sorrY!

Thanks for the link!

Well… from that.

Electrical, Purdue is #11, SB is like 19, Davis is 40
Chemical, Purdue is 15, SB is 16, Davis is 34

Tough…

Also, is it hard to switch into Engineering. I saw on the site that you just have to maintain your GPA and take the right classes.

Those rankings sure tell you a lot about how much you are going to enjoy your undergrad experience, don’t you think?

All joking aside, all three have strong engineering programs. I find Davis to be a really amazing college town. You would have to visit the place to truly get a sense for the school.

^I visited Davis on Saturday, I really liked it. I have already lived in Purdue and so I know how the environment is there too. Both are actually very similar. I am going to the SB admit day on the 10th, so then I will have visited all three schools. =)

Any others please? I am very interested in Bio Medical, so can some one expand on that as well?

I read a thread in the Cal Poly SLO board that Davis has one thing that all engineering majors lack, and seriously need: labs. I think it was a Cal Poly vs Davis thread that you have to find, but having engineering parents and brother who was all about the labs, I’d be appalled to go to an engineering school and to not be able to practice the theory I learned in class.

I am heavily leaning towards Davis, can any one expand on the campus. Their BME programs, classes, teachers…etc.

Right now its basically between SB and Davis… EECS vs BME. Still leaning towards Davis… someone want to make Davis seem super awesome? ;)

hey, i’m going : ) and so it should be fun~

I’m going and I think BME is ranked a lot higher at Davis. Plus, the science courses at Davis are really great so you should do well. Plus, you like the campus so that should be a huge factor in your decision since it will be the next four years of your life. Also, Santa Barbara is more of a party school.

From the UCD catalog I learned that Biomedical Eng. doesn’t have a credential.
What does this mean? I can’t go to grad school later on?
I am deciding between UCSD and UCD.
At UCSD it has a credential and is ranked 2nd, but UCD is ranked 24th without a credential but is closer to home.

I want to go to UC Davis sooo much! However, my parents made me accept Irvine’s admission and housing guarantee fee. Grr…

They made you? Why?? -_-

seniorsf, where does it say ucsd is rank #2? I remember seeing that before, but i cant find the page anymore. Thanks.

“The Biomedical Engineering program is not accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The program is still young, and we will pursue accreditation with ABET in the next cycle.”

Um… does this mean not good for Grad School?
