Why did I get in?

Not saying I didn't want to get in, but hear this.

First, I was accepted to Hazelton campus as a second choice, getting into the college of earth and mineral sciences for petroleum and natural gas engineering. A week later after looking the city up (yep...), I wanted to go to Altoona because its much bigger, population-wise, so I would meet more people. Plus, its only 30 minutes from UP. I called admissions and I was transferred right after New Years weekend.

Anyways, I just happened to email admissions at 9PM last Tuesday to see if I could get wait-listed or get put into the summer program. The next morning at 4:38AM, I receive an email saying I was accepted into University Park for Fall of 2012 [College of EMS, Petroleum and natural gas engineering].

Was this a coincidence? Or did it have to do with my email?

I'm SOOO happy too! My stats were pretty bad for UP statistics (85 Avg, no class rank, 1180 combined/1750 total, 27 ACT).

Over 40,000 students attend Penn State. It’s not that hard to get in.

It’s pretty easy to get admitted to other campuses, but UP is def. the hardest one to get into as a freshman - hence the reason fr the 2+2 program.

yeah, I really don’t think it’s that hard. I think people get all psyched out and worried [i was one of them] when really, they’ve got ridiculously amazing stats. I’m also not saying anyone can get in, nor am I bashing your stats saying they count for nothing. Absolutely not. I was told personally from a staff member at PSU that this year they’ve admitted too many freshman; they over-guessed and now they’ve got to accommodate housing for them all. That’s why so many people got summer admission this year. I totally agree though that UP is the hardest campus to get into.
