Why did I receive this email?

I just got an email from the Cornell FA office regarding an adjustment to my financial aid for the 2020-21 year. I thought this was only issued to current students, so why did I receive it? The link they provide in the email leads to the financial aid portal, which I’m not allowed access to.

This happened to my son last year - I saw it as a positive then (my son was ultimately admitted) - because I think it means you have been admitted and they have moved on to look at your financial situation for financial aid.

However, of course I cannot be absolutely sure.

Did anyone else receive this email?

Did the message say that they were making an adjustment to your financial aid package, or to the information on your FAFSA? I ask because these are not the same. Schools may do the latter if they notice an apparent mistake; however, it has nothing to do with whether you’ve been admitted.

“An adjustment has been made to your financial aid for the 2020-21 academic year.”

Dude, I think you are in. Couple of years ago my son received an email to update some form for FA package at Dartmouth 2 weeks before Ivy Day. Needless to say, he was admitted. Good sign.

Is there a correlation between receiving an aid related email and being accepted?

From what I’ve seen though, I thought the FA office works on the aid packages for all applicants regardless of their admission chances.

The email I received is different in that I wasn’t notified about missing and updated documents, but a change in my aid package. Does this signify anything?

You could always call the financial aid office and ask.
