They used to be playing the most exciting basketball games, great to watch and fast-paced.. now with Shaq.. they're not only not winning more games, losing in the playoffs.. they can't play as great to watch.. Shaq is just not great anymore

Because he is getting old...past his prime.

well, they would get no where with marion......trust me shaq will come back...

shaq just cant fit in the suns..

everyone said that about miami....what did he bring them?

That's what i thought...

Worse than this trade was the trade for Kidd.

They basically took a fast-running point gaurd with no defense and brought him to a defensive-minded half-court slow-tempo team.

The Shaq trade made sense. Marian is good, but he didn't fit into the Sun's offense. Stoudamire filled that niche.

I don't feel like talking about the Kidd trade. Marc Cuban should stick to being an owner, and not a GM. He has absolutely no idea. Do you recall the earlier years of the Cuban purchase? He went travelling around the world to find 7 foot guys to play on his team. The only one that paid off was Dirk, and he was dealt from the Bucks (I believe).

I'm sorry, but Shaq is old. Marion was becoming a paid in the arse for the suns. The only problem I see with the Suns is 1) defense and 2) their rotation. Their rotation is their biggest problem in that they don't have that sixth man anymore. Awhile ago Barbosa's name was thrown into that mix, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Their bench doesn't go as far as I would hope it would go.

Anyways, if they hadn't of let Joe Johnson leave and play for the Hawks, I guarantee they would be champions right now.

Joe Johnson?

He left on his own will. They game him a comparable contract, but he went for the money.

Joe Johnson was good, but no way he would make them champions.

Of course he left on his own will...because he wanted to be a star. He's selfish and dumb. If the Suns were smart and not so stingy and paid the luxury tax, they would have won it. He is good, and I am not saying that he, on his own, could make them champions. He was a great addition to the Suns and he made them...dare I say it? Complete!

Okay, IF the suns never trade quentin richardson and kept joe johnson...had that same team from that one year..i guarantee they would be like 2 times champs or something...they were so good and they screwed themselves over..i say rebuild...

OK. Pheonix isn't great anymore b/c they lost a significant contributor in their lackadaiscal perimeter defense. Kerr brought Shaq over solely for the reason of freeing Amare from Tim Duncan in the playoffs. Obviously it did not work. This is all Amare can be. Trade him when he is still young, not really young anymore. Most of his points comes from utilizing his limited athleticism -hindered by the microscopic leg surgery. It looks like he's got no talent or will for advanced footworks and jumpers.
You can't blame Shaq. He may be old but he's doing the part he's supposed to be doing which is to rebound and clog the paint. Suns GM needs to fill up the bench w/ defensive minded players who can hit midrange jumpshots. Nash is now officially old. Trade someone for a draft pick to have a talented neophyte to learn something from Nash. Keep Raja Bell. He's an efficient shooter and a hard-core defender, gotta love him. Barbosa, barbosa, barbosa. More like a Brazilian blunt to me. My suggestion: Experiment again keeping the core together for another year. Try every possibilities, many players wouldn't miss a chance to play in the high speed octane offense of the Suns to increase their scoring thus their value. The year-after Nash will be a role player at most. If fail to make the Finals, then overhaul the team by trading for draft picks. If the draft prospects suck, spend a criticism-filled season or so, and look to get some young but raw talents out of Atlanta or Charlotte.

As for the Mavs. Damn. I'm a die-hard fan whose heart was crushed once again. Avery is fired as he is supposed to. Mark Cuban needs to revamp the roster again, bringing young and athletic players who won't lose a step or two against bolt quick Warrior players or Chris Paul. Please~ stop flying over to Europe to scout players. We need brute players, not finesse -Dirk is enough already. Why go to Europe when u have McDonald All-American players here in the United States of America? They also should never have traded Devin Harris even though he can't score jack anywhere. Had the Mavs moved on to 2nd round, we would've been killed by Tony Parker. Tyron Lue? what's the use for his quickness if he can't do anything else. My suggestion to Donnie Nelson: Trade Josh Howard or Terry+Stackhouse to get one of those top first round picks in this yr's talent-rich draft. Keep Brandon Bass: Love him. Athleticism. Soft-touch at the line. Young. Overhaul the bench: Move Curious George as soon as u get a chance; stop playing Barea- love his heart for the game but height disadvantage won't work in the NBA; Stackhouse is the next Antoine Walker; PJ Brown- did he even play?. Look for a new point guard since Kidd won't be around in few years. Get DJ Augustin baby! Get an athletic swingman and a formidable center who can actually put the ball in the basket. Or hit a jackpot in one phenom who can become a super-star and build the whole team and the future around him, preferably a power forward. Also, get 3-point shooters, 2 at least. Mike Miller's open to a ticket outta Elvis Land!!! As for Dampier, sigh Self-proclaimed 2nd best center in the league whose face can be found in the weekly edition of SI getting posterized. Stiff like a stick. Can't grab the basketball. No athleticism. Too big of a contract to trade. Mavs, on the positive note, Mark Cuban is still the owner; Dirk has one or two more years left in his tank until he becomes a role player; Avery is fired- PLEASE bring D'antoni into Big D; Kidd will be in training camp to become the leader of the team.

Sorry if this is extremely long. Ignore if u will. I got no other place to vent my frustration that I have for the Mavs. If you have anything to refute my assertions please do. I like lively NBA debate. I also have more to say... OTL

Peace

I always thought Shaq look like a bum.....at least he make himself look like one with his mouth always open.

To be honest, though, I would bet you a fair bit of money that if it weren't for the 2 ridiculously atrocious calls on Shaq last night, the Suns would've won it.

Fire Cuban.

He should not be making deals and decisions.

GO LAKERS!

ahem

with that aside, while i was rooting for the suns, nash choked on three, crucial consecutive plays with under a minute a left. diaw too, although he had a pretty good game.

and, the mavericks don't go anywhere because they're INCONSISTENT. nowitzki works for his 90% of the time, but a lot of the other players don't show up all the time.

I dont think you understand Cuban's position on the team. He's the owner...as in he's the billionaire paying everyone....lol, who's gonna fire him? david Stern?

Lakers will lose....they're not good enough...

I still don't think the lakers are that good.. and Spurs are not great to watch- yea.. they're efficient like soldiers but other than a few drives by parker and manu, they're dead boring.. gotta love chris paul- triple double with no turnovers that night(if i'm not mistaken)..

What I mean is, fire him from the GM duties.

I hate the Spurs... especially Manu. He's the worst flopper in the league.
