It isnt low, but I never expected this.

haha neither did I... I was so caught off guard when I got in ED... I think it's better to be that way... means we were grounded and didn't get our hopes up.

Such a cool thing... congrats

You're definitely strong enough with your stats, and I'm sure the adcoms saw your potential as a person. So CONGRATS!

Hope you come to Princeton! :D

Yeah, congrats.

Congrats. I think you should have asked: "Why would they not accept you?" Btw I never thought I would get in 'coz I feel my essays were super cheesy and I'm positive I blew my interview. But again, you never know :) I'm just so happy I got in.

Those stats are really impressive ... and congratulations! I understand you're choosing from MY three top choices (Princeton, Amherst, and Williams ... I got waitlisted at the second two), so congrats again.

The question us not why they accepted you (amazing stats!), but why did they accept me!? I didn't tell anyone because I'm still waiting for the "oops we made a mistake" letter!

SAT I (by section): 730 M, 750 CR, 760 W
SAT IIs: Math IIC: 660 Spanish: 680 Chem: 690

GPA, Weighted and Unweighted: W-101, UW = ?
Rank: 1 out of 360
Subjective:
ECs listed on app: Lots; most significant is member of College wind ensemble, many bands/orchestra, volunteering clubs, NHS, science/math league, no significant awards really.
Job/Work Experience: manual labor o_O at my family farm every summer, giving clarinet lessons, cashier at family farm market, substitute church pianist.
Essays (subject and responses): bad, cliche. App was very last minute.
Teacher Recs: 1 bad, 2 good
Counselor Rec: didn't see.
***I also sent a music/arts supplement with music compositions. But that's a hobby, and they weren't my best sampling (I sent my best samples to CMU school of music...and even they were dorky!)
Location/Person:
State or Country: New Jersey (Southern)
School Type, Average Stats of School: Public, Not that great, avg SAT is 1000 (old obviously)
Ethnicity: CAUCASIAN
Gender: FEMALE
Hooks: you tell me.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
SAT I scores are good, SAT II scores are not good. Grades are good but my course selection is not, no one from my school gets accepted to ivy leagues (except this year! my friend got into harvard :)). EC's are too well rounded and I have no significant honors (except the college wind ensemble thing). I was obviously not helped by AA, so I don't know what got me in. Being a farm girl?

Honestly, your stats and description of yourself pretty much make you the female version of me... like you, I'm the valedictorian at a not-so-competitive public school (in New York state), I do tons of music things, but not enough to be considered a 'hook', pretty well-rounded extracurriculars, white, etc... maybe Princeton's trying to recruit more normal people :)

I've been waiting for my "oops we made a mistake letter" since I got in in the ED round, and luckily, nothing so far...

hahaha yay

Congrats! I felt exactly the same-- my school librarian asked if I had heard and I didn't really want to say cause I was thinking "wait, did they make a mistake"..... 20 minutes later my friends were all hugging and congratulating me.

great! So normal people do go to Princeton!

peachykween...

Someone in admissions went to bat for you as they liked your application as a whole. If you go to hosting don't be afraid to ask some of the admission staff if they remembered your app.
You will be surprised to know that they love to discuss the applications they liked. Of course there is a chance that you won't ask the right person but chances are they might remember:)

Yay for normal people... another normal person here asking the same question.
I'm a dilettante to the true sense of the word: I dabble at a whole bunch of stuff (music, art, languages, whatever) with not one talent or recognition worth mentioning.

I'm soooooo looking forward to asking about my app at hosting (thanks, nopoisonivy!)

I'm tempted to ask...I visited for an hour the other day on my way to TCNJ and stopped in front of the admissions office just staring, and wondering, and feeling awesome all at the same time.

I can't wait until the april hosting. I probably would only be able to actually go one day because of senior trip issues, but if all works well I can attend two days !
