<p>I checked my status today and I was very upset to read this "The committee on admission has decided to defer final review of your application until our regular review period.
We will try to get you a decision as soon as possible, but the latest you will receive an update is April 1. A letter with additional information will be mailed to your home shortly." I don't understand why I didn't get accepted :((( Not to sound snobby but I have a 4.7 GPA weighted, a 32 on the ACT over 130 hours of community service, wrote a strong optional essay, and I'm ranked 15th in my class. People with lower grades/ACT scores got accepted but I didn't. Could you please explain this to me so I can feel a little better ? :/ </p>
<p>Did you apply ED? If so, this means that you were neither rejected nor accepted ED, but instead shifted to RD, as you weren’t a clear-cut case for acceptance out of their ED pool, but they thought you were still worth considering in their RD pool.</p>

<p>Breaking news–grades, scores, and the number of community service hours (which are often not all that impressive) you’ve racked up aren’t the only things admissions officers take into account when reviewing applications!</p>
<p>Tulane is a hard school to figure out. It’s often thought of as a safety for someone with stats like yours, but it’s really not. There were similar postings last year from students with similar numbers.</p>
<p>One thing which might be the case – there was some thought (which may or may not be true) that the later you apply, the harder it is to get in early. Almost as if they admit a certain number of students early and when they hit their number, it becomes much harder.</p>
<p>One thing that is definately true – it’s harder this year than last, and it was harder last year than the year before. Tulane is a school on the rise.</p>
<p>I applied for Early action on November 12. I’m pretty serious about it. definitely in my top Three (University of Miami, and Florida). Although I will admit that, at first, I decided to apply because the application was free. After researching it , I realized that this school was truly amazing. I love New Orleans and I would love living there.</p>
<p>Have you visited the school. If not, it can never hurt to visit (shows interest).</p>
<p>When you’re there, can you meet with an admissions officer. Let them know how disappointed you were not to be admitted early, and how highly you think of the school.</p>
<p>I got the same thing and have similar stats (33 on the ACT, 8th in my class, great e.c.'s). Really frustrated. So does this just mean we’re competing against RD applicants AND waitlisted applicants, or just other waitlisted applicants?</p>
<p>Same thing just happened to me. I am in the top 2% of my class, a National Merit semifinalist, 3.9 GPA with a lot of AP/honors classes, and over 2200 on my SAT. I think Tulane is doing this just to somehow increase their college ranking and appear to be more selective. They lured me in by waiving my application fee only to defer my admission decision. Very frustrating–I did really want to go there, but now I’m not so sure. Plus, they seemed pretty disorganized in admissions–took a really long time to tell me my application was complete and then responded only after I emailed them a couple of times to ask about it. I was hoping for some scholarship money, but I’m afraid that by the time they make the decision on my app, all the money will be long gone, so I’m not sure how much more effort I should put into this.</p>
<p>I got deferred too. We think it is because of my why tulane essay, it didn’t show a dying interest to go now looking back it, I could have sounded more in love with the college. But to be honest,they are not wrong, that school is not the best fit for me I feel, in my top few school choices, i’m sure that showed.</p>
