Last night around 8:30 pm I recieved an email from the UCLA admissions department. The email read:

"Dear Kirstin,

We have received your University of California Undergraduate Application for Admission and Scholarships. Thank you for your interest in our campus.

We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an admission decision, we need the following information from you:

Your mid-term grades for all 7 courses in progress

We must receive this information within two (2) days of this message date, or processing of your application may be delayed or canceled.

Please click 'reply' to send your response and include this original message. If you have information to send to us, such as course updates, please send it in the body of the email versus an attachment.

Sincerely,

Did anyone else get this?! or know what this means?! I called them and they said to just send an estimate of what I thought my grades were as of right now..Could this mean I am a borderline admittee?? Someone help!

What else could it mean. If they were going to accept you regardless of your current grades they wouldn’t have asked for them, same for if they knew they were going to reject you no matter what your grades are now they wouldn’t have asked. Hope you’re doing well right now.

Luckily Im doing really well in all my classes… I was just VERY surprised because I have not completed my full 60 units. and because UCLA (as well as Cal and others) is pretty strict on having those 60 units finished by Spring. I applied to UCLA on a whim, crossing my fingers that they could overlook my 3 or 4 missing units. NOT to mention that I am on the lower end of the GPA spectrum. I guess I got really lucky if they are even considering me…Also…I’ve never heard of anyone receiving this email…

My GPA as of Fall 08’ is about 3.35…and I am a psychology major. I COMPLETELY understand that my GPA is far below average for UCLA. (my understanding is that it’s around 3.6) The only thing I can think of that UCLA liked is my essays. I wrote very compelling essays about my experience in missions and in working with kids. I guess we’ll have to wait and see !

no I am not in TAP…I didnt qualify because I actually attended a Cal State my freshmen year, and only transferred to a CCC this past year…This is why I am so confused…especially since I have such a strange case…

What is your final UCLA Extension Statistics grade for winter 2009?

luckily, i got an A.
i’m not sure exactly what, if anything, this means. it could be considered a little reassuring since not everyone who is finishing IGETC requirements during spring has received the same email, or anything similar. maybe we’re borderline applicants and have to reach the finish line without faltering.
in any event, good luck.

well, I updated my uc application as soon as I got my winter grades…so maybe that’s why I didn’t get that e-mail? No point to send it, if I already did it…

Pinkerfloyd…thanks for letting me know. I feel a little more relieved knowing that someone else recieved the email…Goodluck to you and to us. They better let us in after this! haha

And missanab…if you’re referring to the midyear report that we had to update back in january…I already did that. Im pretty sure that is a completely different thing to this email. Since the email wanted my SPRING grades… and not even my final grade… just an estimate of what I thought I was getting this semester so far…strange…

No its not a bad sign, they won’t contact you unless they need additional info! So you should be fine! Also, kirstie, what CC are you transferring from?

yanlau, yes I agree with SP123, it is not a bad sign…You really shouldnt hear from them until decisions which is around april 15 as you said…that was why I was a little worried about what that whole email ordeal was about…

and SP123 im transferring from OCC…why do you ask?

well that’s either a good sign or a bad sign to me (and others who didn’t receive anything). it could be great cuz they don’t need to see our grades to accept us. it could be bad cuz no matter what we are rejected.

i’m hoping it’s good for me. i don’t think my gpa is so low they would reject no matter what i got this quarter (and i got a 4.0!)

i think the only reason they sent something is because they want to make sure that you will have 60 units, and if you are even .0001 unit below they’ll rescind you
