my dad went to the Newhouse school of Communications and he would love it if I went here but I’m not so sure. It isn’t one of my favorites but it would be a very serious conversation with my parents if I got accepted. I want to pursue a career in either Industrial Organizational Psychology or go Pre-Med and become a psychiatrist. I want to know from Syracuse students with similar aspirations/Majors/Minors, what made you choose Syracuse and will it set me up for the most success in my aspirations?

You’ve chosen an odd mix of schools-is there anything guiding your selection?Besides your intended major, are there any specific things you are looking for in a school {like common core, few requirements/rigor, school spirit, greek or not, city or country, }.
Yea Ive got schools from lots of different areas. I definitely want a school that has spirit as well as common core. High rigor is something both my parents and I want but Im not looking to go to an IVY as though i’m not cut out for that. I dont need greek life (thats why Ithaca is on the list cause it has no greek life but a lot of students I talked to say that doesnt prevent the school from being fun). I really dislike city schools which is why most of my schools are in more rural areas which makes the campus feel much more homey to me than in a city. The schools I chose as my favorites aren’t all necessarily my favorites for the same reason. JMU had a campus and people that felt very much like a home to me, meanwhile Binghamton has a good acedemic rigor that I would work well in. Finally Ithaca is a good school acedemically but was originally a music conservatory so it would allow me to continue my love of percussion at the level im at which most of the schools i’m looking at dont offer.
Well you won’t find a school with more school spirit than Syracuse or less school spirit than Binghamton.
