What was it about the school? What major are you thinking of?

The first thing I fell in love with was definitely the student community. When I visited both times, most of the students I encountered were very helpful and pleasant. I could basically stop any student walking past me and ask them a question and instead of them just keeping on walking, they stopped and answered me, often times asking if I had any other questions.

While walking through the dorms, most of the doors were kept open basically inviting anyone that wanted to walk in and meet a new person. I even (me being a guy) got to hang out with a few girls when I went, we instantly hit it off. This doesn't usually happen at home, perhaps it is me being naive and they were told to be more nice than normal on the certain day (visitors day), but that is doesn't really matter to me.

There were many more things I really liked about RPI but figured it is best to stay with a tricolon crescens (latin moment) :-D
The second thing I really liked was just the overall academic ability of all the students there. It was awesome to be with and talk to students who had the same tech interests as I did, along with talking to really cool kids who happened to be much smarter than me (valedictorians, etc). I also got to personally speak with one professor in an engineering building (forgot which one... it was downstairs and past a model care if I remember correctly) who was just absolutely brilliant.

The third thing that was very attractive to me was the academic possibilities available to those who choose to make the best out of their college experience. The connections one could make there to use after college are amazing... their alumni basically control innovations in computer technology. They also have a great grad school I hear, although I am not sure if I would rather apply elsewhere for grad school if I make it through my undergraduate years.

yeah i agree, i thought all the people there just seem really friendly. i live in ithaca, where cornell is, and that was the other school i was deciding between, and a good half of the students there you can tell are really stuck up and kind of snobby. And i feel like everyone at RPI wants to be there and wants to do well
i also really liked the architecture school, they have really cool semesters abroad programs that i want to do. they also do a program in new york city for a semester working with SOM which is one of the biggest architecture firms in the world.
and i also really like that everyone has to have a laptop coming into school (even though i wish they made everyone get macs)
and the new EMPAC building is SO NICE

the only thing i didn't love is troy, but i do like how there's a huge city close by.
