Why didn't any of you mention that Ryan Mallett verballed to Michigan?

This is big news people. He is rated one of the top 2 QBs in high school and this year's senior crop of QBs is supposed to be one of the best in recent years. He is 6'7" tall, weighs 240 LBS and has an arm that can toss the ball over 80 yards! If Mallett is as good as advertized, Michigan is set at the QB position for the next 6 seasons...barring any injuries.

Well alexandre, I tend not to care too much about verbal committment anymore. Jai Eugene verbally committed this past year too and then went to LSU anyway. When the #1 DB in the country breaks your heart like that, you just can't trust people anymore...tear

Because the hardxcore sports fans already read about it a few weeks ago on MGoBlog.

www.mgoblog.blogspot.com

Henne was supposed to be great and he was what--8th ranked QB in the Big 10 last year. About two-thirds of highly rated players don't meet expectations. I would not start the Heisman campaign yet.

Honestly, I had never even heard of him. But then, I haven't followed UM sports much at all.

Barrons, Henne led Michigan to Big 10 title as a true freshman. He had an avberage sophomore campaign, but that was with a very shaky OL, plagued by injury and minus Edwards. I'd say Henne was very worthy of the praise he go. He may not win the Heisman, but he will definitely be playing on Sunday.

Drew Henson, anyone? A bust in two professional sports.

Had Drew Henson stuck to Football, he would be an NFL star. But he decided to accept an OSU's bribe money to leave Michigan early and that cost him a lot.

Gotta love that Georgie S!

Even though we didn't get the Clausen kid who is rated #1, he's scary looking. Plus, his brothers both underacheived at UTenn.

This is assuming that Henne doesn't go pro after this season (he'd be a 1st rounder), and that Mallett stays all 4 years (not likely).

Anyways, this is CC. People on here are sports-illiterate.

A 2 wolves, Michigan QBs usually stay 4 years...Henson being the notable exception.

Texas never lost a player early to the draft, yet when someone was a top 3 pick guarantee, they left (Vince Young). History schmistory.

Michigan has never had a QB this highly touted (except for Henson, who left), and highly rated. I'd be surprised if either stayed all 4 years. It's hard to say "no" to a 10 million dollar signing bonus, especially considering Leinart's millions he lost by not declaring early.

True. I will tell you this. If Henne plays an integral part in a 11-2 or better Michigan season, completing over 60% of his passes for over 3,000 yards and a 4:1 or better TD to INT ratio, then yes, he will most likely go early in the first round next year and as such, he will leave early. But I do not see that happening.

Even if you aren't a football fan, go to at least one game at The Big House. It will become a very memorable part of your college experience.

Here's a link to what happened to a music major, w/ little interest in athletics, after he attended a Michigan football to humor his father.

So, is Carr really that open and accessible? have any of you ever met him?

I met Lloyd Carr at a women's gymnastics meet this year and he was fairly approachable.

They need to fire him.

Poor record vs OSU == Fired!

5 losses at Michigan, recruiting classes getting weaker and weaker, 3 out of 4 to Tressel == Very close to fired.

If he has a season like he did last season, Grandpa Lloyd may be given the axe.
