On English, both of my subscores are 18s but my English score is a 35. Shouldn't I have a 36?

nope, the score isn't determined by adding together the sub scores

If it makes you feel better, I also got two subscore 18s and ended up with a 35 on English. Same thing with Reading, too.

Yes I can understand that, but both of my subscores are perfect 18 out 18s.

Maybe this will help; here's the official curve for english on the April test

usage/ mechanics rhetorical skills

18 39-40 35
17 37-38 34
16 35-36 33
15 34 32
14 33 30-31

36 75
35 73-74
34 72
33 71
32 70

so as you can see, if you only missed one question on the entire english section and that question was a usage/mechanics question, then both of your sub scores are 18, but your score for English is a 35

that didn't turn up too well but i think you can still read it

ok that makes sense. thanks
