I was rejected from PSU main campus today and I’m not quite sure why. I had a 3.55 GPA and a 1970 on my SAT. I think it may be because I applied for finance, and if so is there any way I can reapply for something else?
@financemjr I had read somewhere that finance majors are one of the hardest of the Smeal Business majors to get into to. You can try to apply DUS.

3.55 is 25th percentile for University Park (it says “on a 4.0 scale,” so if that’s your weighted GPA, your unweighted is likely lower). I wouldn’t be too surprised – that means 75% of freshmen had higher GPAs, and GPA is 2/3 of the decision.
My son had similar numbers to yours and also got rejected today by Penn State University Park. He wanted to do business but didn’t apply to Smeal because they only accept 1800 freshman into the undergraduate business program. He was offered another campus, but is choosing not to go. He got into some great public universities with generous merit scholarships so will probably go to one of those places. Good luck.
My D and I were at PSU for a Smeal info session last week and they mentioned the freshman class has 750 students
