Why do 4.0 GPA and 2100+ students panic over getting into top notch colleges?

I'd kill for a 4.0 GPA right now (fighting for either a 3.7 or 3.8 right now) and although I've already crossed the 2200 in SATs (trying for 2300), I can't understand why 80% of the people here are panicking over perfect GPA with numerous AP courses, unless it's just humbleness and nerves.

Like, come on, your stats are great, sometimes your essays and EC are beyond amazing... like idk why people are like WATWILLHAPPEN when I'm losing my own faith in getting into colleges of equal prestige.

just getting those stats doesnt guarantee u into a school. far from it actually

But they still have a leg up from the people with lower GPAs and SATs.

Uh oh…everyone stay away from OP

yea but theirs alot of ppl with the same gpa as them and they have nothing to set themselves apart and ppl understand that

Lot’s of kids with 2400s and 4.0 GPAs don’t get into any of the ivies

a 4.0 means so little for top-notch schools.

a 2400 4.0 valedictorian got deferred from MIT at my high school this year. –> it means nothing…

Because many people with these stats still get denied?

Because most here just seem to want a bit of a higher ranked college than they get. A 4.0/2100 isn’t going to get most into an ivy yet so many think it will. Most Val/2300 candidates won’t get into HYPS, yet that’s where they’re aiming…

4.0 == nothing

They have more to lose i guess.
