Why do CCers sit in the back?

2nd row. Front row is nerd status. 2nd row provides all the advantages without the reputations.

I'm not sure why...
I just don't really like people behind me.

I will do the second row thing for the reasons radron mentioned in classes I expect to have trouble in though.

but I've found it never really makes a difference anyway.

Lol ya 2nd-3rd row is best. !st row is too close. I dont like sitting behind no one. (Although I do sit in the front row in math b/c of assigned seating, but Im on the far left so its not too bad).

I sit in the front in most of my classes... I'm in the second row in AP physics--but that was because I had to miss the beginning of that class on the first day of the semester, so I asked my friend to save me a seat, and he's more of a second-row kind of guy. I guess. Come to think of it, he was actually next to me in the front row in AP Calc, so maybe... I dunno. I've also heard he sits in the back in AP English Language, and knowing that class (that teacher), it's probably pretty popular real estate back there. (But I digress.) On the other hand, the front row sucks in the physics classroom because you can't see anything, since the desks are nudged right up against the teacher's desk/counter, which spans almost the entire front of the room.

And not all of the kids in the front row of that class are "nerds." Two are, three aren't. In fact, there are only two "nerds" in the class. Uh... I guess that would put the entire population of nerds in the front row, which weakens any argument that the front row isn't necessarily their domain... so never mind. ;)

I haven't really examined my preference for the front row. I think it's partly because I'm really un-proactive when it comes to choosing seats, so I take what's left over; partly because people act stupid and don't pay attention in the back, and I'm a pay-attention-in-class type of person; partly because I like to talk to the teacher, and you can't carry on a conversation from the back. (I'm friendly, you see, not nerdy. :p)

whats wrong with sitting in the back?
i like it cuz i can hide behind people lol

assigned seat but usually I would sit in the front due to vision problems or just I pay attention more.

Because we're all hopeless slackers.

So someone can't put a knife in my back. ^_^

"how do you drink a diet coke then take a map...

caffeine and sleep don't go together for me..."

no matter how much caffeine i drink at 8am im still tired. my body is basically immune to caffeine. Sometimes i bring an espresso from starbucks and yet that doesn't wake me up either. so since i have like a 96% in that class with one week left there isn't a point in even trying not to nap. plus couches can make anyone tired.

All my assinged seats are in the front, which really sucks. I'd sit in the back because I can watch everything that's going on from there, and not do work. I don't ever sleep or do other hw during class because I think that's really disrespectful though.

I sit in the back so no one notices I'm gone during my x-day hiatuses. Also, no one notices when I go to the library to do homework.

And no one talks to me. =-) Except the stoners, but they don't really count.

middle all the way...except when you dont want to do anything and decide to sit in the back

I like to sit in the back in the morning so it's easier to do homework for other classes that I didn't do the night before. But if it's a class later in the day, I like to sit in the front.

back for the sake of sudoku/other homework/generally not paying attention. also you can put your feet up on the desk legs in front of you. but i was assigned to sit in the front row in my math class, and i've gotten away with absolutely everything anyway.

i find for some odd reason that i usually end up sitting close to the door. this isn't a conscious decision. quick getaway? haha.

I try not to sit in the back because if I do, there is no way I can concentrate on lectures.

I sit in the back to do other work, and have never gotten got, as opposed to others who sit in the front or middle. I also agree that more interesting people sit in the back, than those in the front.

I used to sit in the front and be the teacher's pet. I was very engaged in class, and made sure to pick up every single iota of information that the teachers gave out.

Then I became more rebellious and realized how much more one can learn through self-study than through lecture, so now I sit in the back (when I don't skip) and read other textbooks.

I sat in the first two rows in every one of my classes this last semester. I prefer the front. 1st semester our Calc teacher decided to assign seats late in the 2nd quarter. I hated it because he put me in the back. My friend wanted me to sit in the back with him this semester so he'd have someone to chat with in American Problems. I sat down in the back against the wall for about 2 seconds. Felt like I was really far away.

I sit in the back in math class so I can talk w/ friends and study Latin vocabulary for the next class.
I sit in the back for all other classes too just because I hate the front row.

So I can get to level 4 on Super Mario Quest, of course!
