I am a community college student and I have only been able to do 1 class this semester because everything was booked up. I want to register for classes early for winter/ spring semester but I am not allowed to. A counselor told me they assign dates to register for each student and that they always give priority to students with the most units. This is so frustrating. By the time I will be able to register, almost all the classes will be full. I will never be able to transfer out.

unfortunately thats how the registration system works. seniority over everything. :(

you can however get priority registration if you are disabled, military, part of student government, or play for a sport for the CC. some CCs also give priority to honors students.

just gotta fight for what you can scrabble and be patient and persistent.
eventually you have start getting units to get enough to transfer.

You say you live in LA (Los Angeles or Louisiana?), so if you go to SMC they have a date where they drop any students who did not pay their fees. So a lot of classes open that day. That’s the way I always got into my classes. It should be around January 10th for the Spring 2011 semester. Or join the honors program.
