Why do I have a 'Hold' on registration?

<p>This is hopefully just something that all incoming freshmen get that makes it so they can't register early or something, but I'm still a little worried.</p>

<p>It says:</p>

<p>"Prevents Enrollment</p>

<p>Description:</p>

<p>U. of Massachusetts Amherst </p>

<p>Reason: Registration Approval Required</p>

<p>Department: All Valid Departments</p>

<p>Instructions</p>

<p>You are required to meet with an advisor prior to registering for classes. Please contact your department with any questions. You will not be able to enroll in (add/swap) any further classes until this hold is cleared. "</p>

<p>Does everyone else have this?</p>

<p>I also have that showing up. It must be because they do not want you signing up for classes on your own.</p>

<p>You can’t register for classes until you attend orientation and meet with your advisor.</p>
