Why do Oxbridge do just fine using only academic criteria in admissions?

Because of the GCSE/A-Level system, students going into Universities are already a lot more specialized, so it’s a lot more like graduate school admissions. Also, there has traditionally been less grade inflation, so getting straight A’s was more meaningful (seems like this has been a big controversy in recent years). A few decades ago someone with several B’s may have still had a shot at one of the top schools (if perhaps not Oxbridge).

I’m a physics and mathematics guy, so I’ve looked at H2 level of math and physics

Physics is not too different from AP Physics B + C
But, Mathematics, I’m in love with the english curriculum now.
US curriculum leaves so many stuff behind. And US always do just one subject like Geometry, while I see that UK does it mixed up. I love it! Like statistics. Nobody in US would really take that. Damn. I hate US math curriculum now
Wish math curriculum was better in US.
