Lol what does that even mean?
Example: “My D got into college yesterday, and I was so happy”
…What?!?
Sorry but it’s just too odd and funny to see

Daughter. At least I think so, unless they have a really smart Dog.
kbrown8704, it’s a very common abbreviation on CC. You’ll also see things like “DS,” which stands for dear son. DW = dear wife. DH = dear husband. Sometimes people joke that “D” can stand for another, less complimentary word.
thankyou guys, because I was starting to get annoyed at seeing D all over the place.
Longhorn the last sentence is what I was leaning towards to when making a decision on making a definition for “D”
I hate it. It seems really impersonal and like parents think their son/daughter is a possession. But that’s just me
Sent from my ADR6400L using CC App
Never thought College Confidential would make me laugh (usually reading it just stresses me out) but this thread did. I think we can all agree what D really stands for…
my D is ballin with the ladies doe.
Well… I have over 3,000 posts out here. I figure that a reference to one of my two daughters appears in 75% of them. Therefore, I have saved 15,750 keystrokes by typing “D” instead of “daughter” all those times. It is shorthand. Common on most any website frequented by parents on the internet, by the way, not just CC.
I always get a kick out of this kind of thread. For fun, I looked at the OP’s (oops, “original poster’s”) posting history. Here are a few of the abbreviations I found, in not that many posts:

Hmm, I guess everybody uses abbreviations!
It is all a matter of age group, IMHO. The youngsters don’t have a D or S or H or MIL or FIL or BIL or SIL yet. So they haven’t “discovered” abbreviating it yet, and can’t stand that we beat them to it.
