Why do people love to complain about Hofstra?

I am currently a freshmen at Hofstra and it was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made to attend this school. I love the campus, the professors, the extracurriculars, and so much more. What I don’t understand is why so many people, especially on this thread, love to complain about the school. It’s not the best academically (it’s about average) but it has a great reputation. I’m an dual early childhood/ elementary education and Spanish major and the school is well known for their school of education and the connections you make from graduating from the education programs. Besides the SOE, our communication and business schools are highly competitive and many students are offered jobs before or immediately after graduation. Yes, it can be extremely expensive, depending on financial aid, and that is the one major flaw the school has. My question is what is making everyone complain? Is it the cost, the fact that it is not academic enough? Why aren’t people standing up for it? Most of my classmates seem to love it here so why are the reviews so poor?

If you like it don’t worry about what others say. One of my co-workers went to Hofstra and he’s one of the smartest people around.

I don’t know anything about Hofstra, except that they send an incredible amount of unsolicited spam emails.

That they do! They still send me emails telling me to apply even though I’m going to be a sophomore
