I applied to several colleges last year for the fall of 2018, CSUs and UCs, one of them was UCR. They send out addmissions decisions from March 1st to March 30th (the site was down this year at the beginning of the period so notifications actually started about a week late). Some people I know have already been accepted however I am stil waiting for a desision. Does this mean anything bad for me, or is the order of acceptance random?
Colleges often release decisions in batches…probably because they can work on them in chunks, or not have the servers overwhelmed with everyone looking at it at once.
You need to be aware if they have early action dates and then of course meet them. Some schools just do pure rolling admissions (like UDEL for example). And some schools like UCONN just don’t send any early notifications, Of course you also need to make sure your submission is COMPLETE the first time and they did not ask you for more information about the application. Then it can be end of the line.
UCs and CSUs might accept early if an honors program or a Regents scholarship is in play. My D heard from UCSB, UCI, and UCLA weeks before she heard from UCB and she got into all of 'em. Nothing to worry about.
