On some of the supplements I'm looking at, the schools in question ask if you applied as a freshman and if so for which incoming semester. What is the point of this? Anyone have any actual info about this (we can throw around all the theories in the world)? Do they look back at your old application, just to see if you wanted to get here in the first place, to see if you were accepted and declined them originally, or just for kicks?

Some ask because they hold application materials. I’m not sure why others ask.

My D1 applied, was accepted and turned down a school as a fr. They don’t hold on to old applications but do ask if you applied earlier. She applied as a soph transfer and was accepted.

People don’t attend schools for all sorts of reasons so I don’t think schools hold it against you.

I’m really curious about this too. I imagine it might be so that they can match up the info you provide with what they already have on file to see if its accurate.

Otherwise, I can’t really think of that question is even relevant on the app.
