Why do we need to have taken an art type class?

Berkeley is strong in engineering, why the hell do we have to take a class like art or dance or orchestra. please dont tell me its all about “well rounded” students that “adds diversity”. such bull.

haha i wrote up Internet as my “art” class, will that hurt my chances. its more like college prep

not every student is an engineering, and not all ucs are strong in engineering

<a href="http://pathstat1.ucop.edu/ag/a-g/vpa.html%5B/url%5D">http://pathstat1.ucop.edu/ag/a-g/vpa.html</a></p>

but why are wanabe engineers required to take an "art" class? i dont get it.

the same reason why english majors have to take math

I agree with their reasoning, but I also think it's kind of stupid since the vast majority of colleges do not require it and it's not part of high school graduation requirements, either. If you don't decide you want to apply to the UC's before course selection for senior year (as is quite possible out of state), you could be out of luck.

b/c dammit engineers can't tell between a monet and picasso.
they're a friking textbook otherwise

damn straight. gotta add some cheer to those numbers and chemical formulas.
