Why Do YOU Love Brown?

What is it that makes you want to go to Brown? Why does it stand out from other colleges you researched or are applying to? What initially drew you to it, and, if you go there, what ultimately led you to choose Brown over other schools you were accepted to?

Basically, what makes it so special?

insert Brown essay here

I'd say PLME program, thrown in with Open Curriculum system, and the environment of the students and professors there = perfect.

Eh, in 9 days, I'll know if I get to enjoy those things above -.-. Good luck to everyone who applied.

the open curriculum, the campus, the location, the people, the happiness, the people, the brilliant faculty/professors, all the traditions, the freedom, the atmosphere/environment which is supportive and yet still competitive (but in a way where people push you--and you push yourself--to do better, as opposed to them trying to beat you), the fact that everyone who's there wants to be there and wants to learn and grow and achieve, the people, the atmosphere, the open curriculum, the opportunities, providence, everything.

^ i should really get off this site, im getting too excited abt these schools, ill b really disappointed when i dont get in!

The fact that Brown allows its students to map out their future rather than vice versa. Also, the accepting student population.

@collegebound_91, I actually quit going on CC until the day of notification because it made me wayyyy too nervous.

The open curriculum is amazing, first off, and I like how free the college is in letting you decide your own education, while still making it rigorous and beneficial. I've never met a Brown alumni I didn't like, either -- some of the most awesome people in the world make up the student population, for sure.

The campus is gorgeous, the food (from what I've heard) is pretty good, and the housing is better than most. The random clubs are awesome as well. And there's just a vibe there, you know? Everyone is welcome as long as they can accept others. You could be a super liberal hippie who drinks and smokes pot, or a conservative Christian, it doesn't matter. Everyone gets along, for the most part -- there will always be a few a-holes, but Brown does a good job of keeping their numbers low.

"And there's just a vibe there, you know?"

This is really unclassifiable, but I entirely know what you mean. I feel the same way. I have met very few people who irritate me. And everyone seems so happy.

i was all set to accept a brown rejection after todays wave of (good) notifications but you guys all reminded me why i love brown so much. :/

well, congrats caitylin! if they're good notifications, you're gonna have fun wherever you go!

I'm just going to list alumni in this post:
MC Paul Barman
Elliot Reed (Scrubs)
Brian Griffin (Family Guy)
Dhani Harrison
Chubb Rock
Otto Man (Professor)

Granted, two out of the list dropped out (Brian and Chubb Rock), but if you don't know of any listed, I recommend you check them out :).

and of course the great john krasinski from the office

and Ira Glass!

It’s super liberals and of course, the unique student population, beautiful campus.
