Why Do You Love Rice?

What is it that makes you want to go to Rice? Why does it stand out from other colleges you researched or are applying to? What initially drew you to it, and, if you go there, what ultimately led you to choose Rice over other schools you were accepted to?

Basically, what makes it so special?

the college system really...my top 2 schools are rice and uc san diego and they both use the college system, but i like rice more b/c its a small school (3,000 compared to ucsd 23,000) which can provide better one on one teaching/research. and plus my visit was awesome and im an athlete so the D1 status really helps their case...um what else...all their traditions are really cool and they have a superbowl stadium, track stadium, and a really nice varsity gym and non varsity gym...and the campus is big but not uncomfortably huge like you could walk everywhere if you wanted....and its in the worlds largest medical center and im in biomedical engineering so thats a huge +...and the running coach (im a distance runner) is known for taking distance guys and making them really good middle distance athletes and thats what i want to do, so its just a perfect fit for me...i would suggest walking around the campus for a few hours and just see if it 'feels' right...i think you will find out why rice is right for you

I'll list:
-Residential college system
-Accepting student body
-Good finaid (I'll see for sure in April =] )
-Small school
-It's warm
-Alcohol...
-Great engineering program

This weekend they have a HUGE, ENORMOUS water balloon fight (as a part of the Beer Bike event). (Not a student at Rice, but have/had 2 kids there). The traditions and fun events like this help make it a really special place.

Lol. Nice one. Except this one isn't TOO hard to find basically...anywhere. I'd say it's pretty standard, no?

lol but it is REALLY easy to find alcohol at Rice, even if you are a 16-year old prospie.

And you probably won't get in trouble for it.

speaking of alcohol, anyone know the results of beer bike?

The official results aren't out but right now Will Rice is claiming that they swept. There are some penalties that need to be accounted for.
