Why do you want to attend Ivy league schools?

After looking through many great stats you all have, they are just amazing with overwhelming ECs, honors and so on. Tell me why you want to attend top 10 schools? Is it just because of the name? No BS please!

Its what people do. They want to be able to say "I went to______" for the rest of their lives and command automatic respect. The actual education is nothing special.

Agree with supereagle10. If you are an outstanding math and science student and choose Princeton/Harvard over MIT/Caltech then that's a pretty dumb decision imo.

A "dumb decision" in what sense? Those schools have great math and science programs.*

*I would have expatiated as to why I think so, but I have an AP tomorrow.

obviously for the ivy.

For the particular top ten school I dream of going to, I found a really cool undergrad math major program.

Where?????

Well fiN01 you also have to consider the fact that some students might rather have a liberal arts education than a technical school one, even if they are interested in a science or engineering field. I personally plan on majoring in math and physics and find it much more enjoyable to be surrounded by other students who aren't focused on the exact same field of study as I am.

I think it'll give me more of a challenge, as well as the ones I'm looking for have great economic majors.

It just worked out that Brown had one of the best Neuroscience programs around :)

Agree with supereagle.

But it is nice to be surrounded by smart people...it ****es me off that some stupid retard who failed high school who smokes all day and drinks all night will be in the same classes as me.

Would you please share why you want to attend Ivy in your case? I don't really want to make this topic into an unnessary endless arguments. Please share if you'd like to about why you particularly want to attend Ivy.

I want to have challenging classes and intellectual classmates, but I got them outside of the Ivies because I wanted smaller classes and more discussion... I'm saving the Ivies for grad school.

Nice! Thank for your comment! What school are you in right now brillar? Stuyding with smart classmates is a crazy competition for grades, though. You still like that?

From what I understand many of the highly competetive schools that I plan on applying to (some Ivy, some not) have large almni networks within the business and technology world that will greatly increase my chances at finding and securing a wealthy career after graduation. Also you can't forget about the instant respect that comes from being able to say "I graduated from [Harvard, MIT, Princeton, etc]" versus many other large institutions that, while they might offer an equally rigorous education, don't have the same level of brand recognition.
