(This sounds like one of the short answers on applications, huh?)
For me it's because I want to go somewhere with opportunities, and to actually have a chance of becoming someone and making a difference. I'm sick of being the only one who cares about school and doing well, and being made fun of for it. I also can't imagine spending another 4 years in this town. I love my family and all, but being stuck in middle-of-nowhere-Suburbia, with all the people I've known forever, just doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

That goes for me as well. I also want to better my education and have an experience where I can mingle with people from around the world on a daily basis.

I am made fun of at school for actually caring about my grades, trying hard in classes, and putting effort into my work. I love my friends and family, but the teaching style, not so much.

I want to be somewhere where everyone is motivated and wants to be at school. I want to be with kids who can offer their own opinions while considering others’. I want to be part of a community of dedicated and talented kids.

I want to have access to amazing and inspirational teachers. I want to have most–if not all–of my extracurriculars within walking distance.

I want to build friendships that will last and I just want to enjoy my high school years.

And I want an awesome sweatshirt I can be proud of!

^^^I want to go for all of the reasons you guys have listed!

Well, it seems like we’re all applying for close to the same reasons! I guess there IS a reason for why boarding schools are the way they are XD

@moosiechica88 Check out this thread!

@stargirl3, THANKS! I didn’t see this one on the Cafe the last time I was here! OOPS! LOL! Your reasons are very similar to ours! We just wanted to also avoid the drama that exists in our neighborhood because we’re such a tight-knit neighborhood, where everyone knows everyone else’s business. So when you have something go wrong, it spills over into the kids’ schools and vice versa. But mostly, I knew that even though Moosieboy would thrive no matter what, we felt that he would MORE than just thrive in a prep school environment. He would totally come into “his own” and mature in a much different way than he would staying home. And the athletics, too. That was a huge deciding factor. But for the most part, the decision was made after our first visit to the school. Once we stepped foot on their campus, there was nowhere else Moosieboy wanted to be!

I dont wanna be the only on my grade that cares when i get a B on my report card… AND…I wanna get out of my town where half the girls in my current 8th grade class are gonna be pregnant in two years… ._. (NUFF SAID)

I’ll join the party.
Erm I want to have an awesome group of friends that I can totally be myself with! I want to fangirl over the same shows, laugh about the same things, cry about the same things.

I want to have a great education and come to college prepared! I want to be a nerd and be proud of it! I want to dress how I want without being labeled with some term. I can’t imagine actually meeting people from all around the world! That gives me a way larger chance to meet people with the same interests as me!

Opportunities and the experience!

I want to be “burst my bubble”. I want to reinvent myself. Sure, I may be residing in an urban metropolis; however, I’ve been living here for MY ENTIRE LIFE. (Seriously, I moved here when I was only a few months old.) I want to see who I am beyond my family.

I want to be exposed to new opportunities. I want to be around more ambitious people. I want to be inspired by amazing teachers who can DO rather than just teach (a reference to the popular quote: “those who can’t do, teach”). I want to explore who I am and discover my passions. I want to have better facilities. I want to recognize my dreams at boarding school and identify my vocation.

(Plus, the city I’m living in is extremely polluted and everyone here is dying faster due to the factories nearby.)

I want to earn a good grade in a class and actually feel like I earned it.

I want to be around people that care. That want to be a part of everything, from clubs to sports to awesome classes and enjoy it.

Plus the whole Harry Potter experience.
