Why do you want to go to MIT?

Besides the fact that it is a household name and it will be easier to get a job after college or go to grad school if you get good grades while attending MIT. Why do you want to go there, it seems like you give up all of the fun you could have had at another great yet less demanding university? I have read in other posts that you do 12 hours of work a day, sure I find math and phsyics fun too, but 12 hours of it a day, for 4 years is overwhelming. So why do you want to go to MIT, besides the name recognition?

like most top universities: for the challenge! i think if one can get through mit, or even do well at it, its good. (i couldnt think of a better way to end the sentence, but you get the point)

I want to be with more people like me.

LSA - having read all of your posts - I truly think you belong there. I really hope you get in. :-)

mr. flory [sic] :D, having looked through all your posts, it seems that they have all been to ME. :P ... do you go by another name here, or have we met or something? (do I need to PM you to find out? :P )

Thanks for the kind words, though.

No, we haven't met, but I've gotten more MIT info from you than I have from MIT. Anyone that devoted to MIT deserves to be there, IMHO. That's all.

I see. :) I'm glad that I've been helpful. Yeah, I really love the school. :)

Best of luck in the admissions process! :)

Indeed.

The 10 character limit, however, isn't.

(or the one-post-per-minute rule) :(

It is my destiny...

I just love the atmosphere of MIT- it seems so, quirky.

Indeed, LSA.

Jack Flory, where did you get your screenname from ;)

darn it, it's Florey, with an 'e'

Aye, so it is.

Atmosphere and student body (similar to LSA's response, being around our kind of people, or around people who are "similarly different" I suppose). Then there's also the challenge thing, and I'm one who cares a lot about undergraduate research opportunities.

It's a place where arts and science coalesce in a condensed environment more so than any college I know about. I gotta have that synthesis...

"similarly different"! I love that description. :)
