Why are the scores combined when English is already considered in the composite? Also will colleges use the combined Essay/English score or just the essay?

I got a 10 on my essay, but a 29 english. So the combined is also a 29.

anybody know?

can anyone at least answer the 2nd question?

I’m not positive, but I don’t think very many colleges look at the combined score.

great question…on both counts…

2nd question may be better answered by individual schools on your list though…

If I had to make a guess, composite score trumps the english/writing score UNLESS some schools come math to SAT math and english to english…

bumping this up,
