I really want to use the common application and apply online because it will save a lot of time. However, I find that the common application gives you about 4 words of space where it seems like the space warrants more like 15. I checked the Princeton application and they give you up to 175 characters for a space that commonapp gives you about 20. What is up with this...are other people having the same problem? Is there anything I can do to fix this and still apply online? As a note, don't say just use Princeton's application because then I would have to do two essays from their 4 choices, but I want to have my own choice of one which i get from the common application.

You've got to take the good with the bad. Remember that every applicant has to deal with the same limitations. And you can always attach a (concise) resume to the app if the space isn't enough.

I ran into the same problem filling out my activities section, mainly on the positions held/honors won column. I typed "see additional information" when there was absolutely no way to describe what I did in that few characters. I agree, the Common App does suck, but it's much better than the alternative.

it does suck. but since i'm like applying to a lot of schools, it's the best way to deal with things.

well, is there anything I can do about the Princeton supplement...so that I could fill it out using Princeton's online thing but still hand it in with the common app. For the personal random questions part, I can't even fit in a short movie quote and it seems like a stupid thing to put in additional notes.

like totally. i totally feel for this guy arp...i have the same question....someboy rescue us!
