It just seems like everyone around here hates high school SOO MUCH and can't wait for college. I mean don't get me wrong, I definitely don't like about 90% of the people in my school, and I completely understand the whole shallow/petty argument, but COME ON! It can't really be that bad!!! As much as I feel like I am ready to move on, I also feel like there's a lot of good times and awesome people I'm leaving behind. High school is such a fun time...there are so many new experiences and chances to enjoy yourself!! How can so many people hate it so much??

well, look at the Address bar...the website is called college confidential...=P

seriously though, not everyone here hates high school. we all have rough periods to get through, and school itself inevitably sucks, but you can't have the good without the bad, right?

Personally, I am just sick of the people and the classes. None of what we study interests me, which makes me slack off. As far as people go, all kids ever do is trash talk their friends, or trash talk the girl that's dating the boy you like, any reason to hate someone, and torture them seems to be a good reason. I love my close group of friends who all happen to be seniors as well, and we all hang out on the weekends together and we always have a great time together doing even the stupidest stuff. But I get annoyed by my other friends a lot of times, who are mostly a year younger, they are so flakey. One minute they're there for you, the next minute they decide you're a b---h. It's all kind of a game. I think to really enjoy HS you have to find that group of friends that all get along. Sorry for my rambling, lol, I'm done!

i want to get out of high school as soon as i can because
1) high school is so clique-based it's sickening
2) college will actually have subjects i'm truly interested in
3) freedom
4) high speed internet baby haha i dunno

yeah i'll miss hs just like the next person because of my friends and what not, but we're all eager for the future

people hate high school cuz they see it only as a means to an end. The end being a top, selective, prestigious college.

I HATE high school, and for some great reasons - I outgrew petty -when I was around 15, so now that I'm 17, I've had enough. I need to be in college already with freedom, not tied down to my parents and to pointless, work. Classes in college = fun; classes in highschool = pointless.

Wow...I think my high school might be less dramatic than all of yours or something. We have cliques I guess, but don't you think that they exist EVERYWHERE, even the amazing COLLEGE you guys refer to? People are always going to hang out with people who are like them or whatever. Like I said, I really don't favor the people in my hs, and I doubt I will really remain close friends with ANY of them...but I think you just have to make the best of it, because college isn't necessarily going to be full of people who are just like you or people who aren't cliquey.
But, yeah, academically I think high school is COMPLETELY worthless. I haven't even gone to half of my classes. I definitely don't think I'll loveeee every class in college though! LOL

Anyway excalibur that is what worries me with people chillin on this lil site...esp. all the youngins who are like already buggin out about college. It is exactly what is wrong with America! LOL Kids want to grow up too quickly and don't enjoy being a kid/teenager!!!! HIGH SCHOOL ROCKS GUYS or as the Ataris say "being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up...these are the best days of our lives!" LOL

Honestly though, I think a lot of peeps have the wrong attitude about HS.

no, see, no. some of us don't get to chill out in high school. that's why we want college.

and isn't a "peep" a baby chicken?

LOL, idk I thought they were marshmellow chickens...but, alas, I was referring to peeps as in people. That should clear a lot up for ya! :D

And why don't some people get to chill out in high school???

why would you not be able to chill out?

because my parents are constantly on my back, my siblings are constantly on my back, I live in a very stressful atmosphere, etc

High school sucks, I'm sorry. I have been going to school with the same kids for like, a million years-- or so it feels like. Everyone is just stupid. They live too much (with drugs and other shizz) or are too afraid to live. In college, there are people in between and I'm intending to get there. Well, at my school, the pool of people is so small, about 65 per grade-- yes per GRADE. I'm over them, I'm over the retarded administration who have been picking on me this year because I'm sick and tired of their bull and talk back to them-- I ain't no suck up anymore I'll tell you what. Ha ha, and they don't like it. YESSS! Stupid little closed minded !@#$@$%!!!!!!! Whew, calm down now...

I agree with this, too:
"no, see, no. some of us don't get to chill out in high school. that's why we want college."

College=stressful

I think college is going to mean LESS time/chances to chill out...I don't see why you would think you will have a chance then but not now?

not necessarily. It can be whatever you make it, however you organize your schedule makes a difference. You just have to act quickly. Of course seniors and upper classmen get priority in choosing later classes, but you can still beat out other freshmen for prime spots if you're going to a big school.

Yeah, but high school is just WAYYY easier than college...you HAVE to work hard in college!! Even if you have later classes, you're still going to have a ton of work to do at night or in the morning or whatever.

high school ain't that bad for me, but it's still no prance through the daisies because the priorities of you and your peers are like:

GPA GPA GPA

SAT SAT SAT

AP AP AP

EC EC EC

and other such acronyms until....

time with family

time with friends

sleep

emotional maturation and self discovery are so far down that no one realizes that they're on the list

I think high school is swell. For the most part, I think we all probably have it pretty good. I pity a lot of the kids at my school who will be in their parents' basement next year (and this isn't a generalization I actually know 3 or 4). Don't get me wrong I whine about all the work a lot and I wish I could spend more time with my friends who aren't in AP, but it'll pay off. Plus, it is unfair to stereotype all high school students except the ones posting on this forum as vapid and shallow. If you have that kind of attitude, of course you won't have a good time. You've got to accept that not everyone sees the world the way you do and heck it isn't like at 17 and 18 yrs old we have it all figured out either. I just think life is what you make of it and while college is something to be excited about, you'll miss today always focusing on tomorrow. I know this sounds contrived but I'm being totally honest. Think of everything that you take for granted now, it is all going to be gone next year! I'm scared/nervous/excited etc. but I still don't mind HS.

Hahah are you guys for real?? At my school having fun and stuff like that is most def at the top of EVERYONE'S list...granted I don't go to the best school ever, but it's not like no one at my school cares about their future either.

Honestly, I haven't even thought about any of that until like this year. That's probably not the best thing, but I can't imagine always thinking about it!!!! Nobody I know is like obsessive about college/grades/achievement like that!

D.E.M. ~ awesome point. props
