Why does it seem that everyone on cc is so nerdy and socially awkward?

Everytime im on this site I see people with really high SAT scores and high grades/rank, but it seems like everyone is still so pessimistic about themselves and overly competitive with everyone else. Don't you people realize that social growth(dealing with people, and relationships) is as important as academic growth. Even if you do get into these high colleges, when you get out in the real world no one is going to want deal with you, and you prob won't even know how to communicate yourself. I am very good student, but I also do vasity wrestling that balances me out.

Your input?

Sounds like someone is apprehensive of facing his/her own fears.

The majority of people on here play a varsity sport as well.
Not saying that proves balance, but it’s the only example you yourself provided.

Also, I’ll admit that I’m probably one of the posters who seems completely obsessed with grades and getting into the ivies. However, I spend about 20-30 minutes on here a day for that sole purpose…to obsess over college. The rest of my day is spent living a normal teenage life.

I think that’s probably the case with a lot of people on here. This is a forum to discuss schoolwork and getting into college, so people are probably going to be mainly focused on those things here.

Nerdy, okay, but how the heck can you tell if someone is socially awkward based on their posts on CC?

It seems like you are just trying to justify your own life decisions.

Also, you posted this in the wrong forum; therefore, you suck.
:)

Forums are to obsess. Car forums, game forums, college forums, philosophy forums etc. You can’t base personalities over short sentences, let alone the internet.

Caizzacuz: This is website is geared at college admissions, so you can expect a lot of people to talk about such things  Also, most of the people aiming at top universities tend to be highly resourceful and this is why they end up on CC – to make the most of the resources available. Most of the people I know in real life who use CC are the ones who want to go to a good college. The others don’t really explore college admissions that much. You can’t assume that people who are academically talented are socially awkward or spend their entire lives on CC. Most of the people who get into elite colleges have a life. In fact, colleges want you to have a life :)

All the nerds become successful and make lots of money–
just speaking from my experience and the people I know
