Why does ND require only 1 essay?

I've noticed that among many prestigious universities, Notre Dame has a relatively easy application, with only one personal statement essay required. Why do you think they do it this way?

Good writers can express who they are in one essay.

I've kind of pondered requiring essays at all. There are ways to buy essays or some kids have someone else, such as a parent write them. I know when we went to the admission info session, they stressed how much they want the student's ideas expressed on the essay, so maybe they have just received a bunch of boring stuff that is all the same and they don't want to receive more of the same.

I don't know, but I know I liked being able to completing the app in about an hour (Topic of your choice essay).

All they really want to know is - can you play football?

^^^

LOL. That is funny.

Haha. I wish it were that simple. If you're not a god at football though, all they really want to know is, can you do three varsity sports at once while maxing the SAT and getting a 4.0? They figure if you're not terrific at football you must at least be a good juggler.

They may be lowering their standards for football..... I dont think being a "God" is required.... hah jk

anyway

have you guys noticed that we have the number 1 rated recruiting class for next year????? think about that when you are calling for C-papa's job

national championship within the next 5 years--you heard it here first

Why would anyone ask this question? Do you want to write more essays? When I saw that Notre Dame had only one required essay, from questions that were essentially common app questions with Domer spin no less, I jumped for joy. Seriously, who actually enjoys writing college essays?

I guess people who think that there essays will be there best part of their application

Legitimate.

their?

haha jp wit u Tim--I hope you still get in anyways!

and when you do just know that Stanford Interhall is playing in the semi's this weekend! YUP, ONE MORE GAME AWAY FROM THE STADIUM!

Good luck jvon, it would be so cool to be able to play in ND stadium.

horrible grammar

I apologize... I got it right the second time at least

Hey... ill provide some offensive power next year for you guys..hah

we need it... our quarterfinal game went 0-0 into OT! haha the games go by so fast (10 minute running clock) and offenses are so unorganized that it's really hard to score...

hah

nice... ive got the hands, but me on defense is not a sight to see

my concept of tackling is simply diving at THEIR knees. I can also play some QB... people have compared me to Vince Young... haha jk maybe
I cant wait for interhall football next year.... sounds so awesome

we have the first week of playoffs tomorrow.... starting to feel the butterflies

I've never been much of a football player, myself. I'll tell you what, though. Bookstore Basketball... that's where it's at.

high school playoff football is the greatest thing ever... i get goosebumps every time i think about my last game in the playoffs

and yeah i'm really excited for bookstore bball this spring!! i'm also a couple weeks into the boxing club... it's VERY demanding, but it's a nice way to challenge yourself and stay in shape... it's a lot of fun--bengal bouts should be a good time in the spring
