I'm just curious because they've repeatedly told students they recommend calc over stats. I did not know this my junior year and would have taken precalc over applied precalc in order to advance into AP AB Calc. But I didnt and though AP Stats was seen just as rigorous as Calc. I'm currently taking AP Stats and now I'm really worried that I'm now being seen as a student who isn't challenging herself even though AP Stats is just very challenging course.

@raqtal, it’s not that we don’t see AP Stats as a rigorous course, we just view AP Calculus as more challenging – it’s generally viewed as one of the most challenging courses a student can take in high school. Not taking AP Calc in no way means you’re automatically excluded from being admitted. We look at the strength of a student’s transcript overall and do not require specific courses for admission.

Thanks so much for your response!
