Whenever he'd discuss his future college aspirations with the attorneys at the firm, they were VERY clear that if he wanted to ever practice law in KS, he'd be FAR better off to stay within the state for his law degree. States like these midwestern ones tend to favor their own "homegrown" professionals.

In general, I agree, adding "or perhaps a very good school in a nearby state".
When you have time (if that ever happens) you might check out some threads on the law school board, including one that I started several months ago on why a top-tier school is not the only way to success. (Gave the background of the new nominee for Secretary of Agriculture)

My d. dropped out of the "academic performance cult" at birth - we homeschooled, and basically allowed her to do what she wanted. Then packaged her up for the college game (though I wish she'd taken another "gap" year, since they were ALL gap years. ;)) I'll never forget her taking the tour at Smith, and the tour guide, trying to make small talk, asking her what her ECs were, and my daughter looking at her with a big, blank stare.

All the colleges we looked at seemed to be perfectly fine with the packaging, except for Pomona, which couldn't deal with the square peg thingee.

Irene I think you made a good point. There are a lot of people who enjoy all this work. I'll admit that school does become stressful (I'm at a CC right now, but trust me, doing 21 units has kept me pleanty busy) at times, however I don't think that's a bad thing. While at times rest would be good, and there are pleanty of nights I've lost sleep, I actually enjoy the work to some extent.

When I sit down and relax I find myself getting bored rather quickly. I've always been the kind of person who must have one thing constantly taking up my time. When I was younger I started collecting sports trading cards, by the time I stopped I had over 25,000. After that I started making a website (if you're wondering, it was a rollercoaster website, somewhat random, but it was fun!) and by the time that I was finshed with that (sadly) it had seen well over 5 million hits in it's three year run. I replaced the site with EC's at school, and got involved in everything I could. I would often spend my entire day (class time included, which is half the reason I think I ended up at a CC) working on things for ASB and the school paper...

Now I'm doing the same thing with school work, it keeps me busy and it makes me happy for the most part. So I'm not really seeing much of a problem with it.
