Why doesn't Brown have a business school?

Brown offers a vast variety of programs. How come there’s no school of business?

Because Brown doesn't offer pre-professional programs historically, the exceptions being engineering (third oldest program in the country), a limited teacher certification program, and public health (which was held up for years in faculty debates until there was "proof" enough that there existed an academic field of study).

Brown doesn't believe its purpose to be teaching you a job skill, it's to provide a liberal arts education.

Brown doesn't have a busi school but they have a business program called Commerce, Organizations, Entrepreneurship.

COE has some very business like components but since it's focus is entrepreneurship it is structured quite different from a typical business curriculum and benefits from a whole host of resources most business departments would not consider tapping into while it suffers from the lack of dedicated business professors/school.

It's not really the same, though it's a path people considering business elsewhere may want to look at.
