why doesnt emory have a subthread of Class of 2010 and 2011 like other CC top uni's?

CC Top Universities have subthreads of class of 2011 and 2010, but Emory, WUSTL, and UNC don't.

we should figure out how to get one for the class of 2011, becuase i'm jealous, i guess.

haha

This is probably an issue of supply and demand. Of the "CC top universities", Emory has the 3rd lowest number of posts, with only Vanderbilt and UNC lagging behind us. Vanderbilt's forum, however, has a conference for the class of 2011, so you'd think Emory's forum would have one too. If enough people sent e-mails to administrators, I warrant that the Emory forum would be granted one.

I find it interesting how the more prestigious a university is, the more likely it will have a larger number of posts per capita.

An illuminating example:

Cal Tech's overall undergraduate enrollment: 913
Cal Tech's overall number of posts: 11,955
** posts per capita: 13.094 **

Ohio State's overall undergraduate enrollment: 36,029
Ohio State's number of posts: 993
** posts per capita: .0276 **

One day, I am going to compile the data for the forums of all the universities, then I shall rank the universities based upon posts per capita. I wonder if this metric would be more accurate than US News's rankings. I seriously think it may be.

lol......okay we'll wait

I agree.... All Top CC Universities deserve Sub Forums! I have ranted on this fact numerous times on the UNC page.

Ha. I already did that about a week ago! Emory does pretty well.

That's a really neat list, thanks for beating me too the punch!

If you used the correct numbers, which I'm sure you did, then I must say that I rather like the list. University of Chicago and Swarthmore get due respect by both being in the top 15. Washington University is ranked where it should be, whereas it's overrated in U.S. News, IMO. The Tech colleges, MIT and CIT, are highly ranked as they deserve to be.

Emory is ranked appropriately, IMO. Although to my disappointment, Emory does seem to rank lower than in U.S. News; noticeably Tufts, Cal, NYU, CMU rank above Emory in this ranking where they do not in US News. Tear

What's shocking is the difference between number one (princeton) and number two (deep springs)! That's a difference of about seven. That's such a large difference that I am boggled as to how it could possibly be explained without pointing to an error on college confidential's part or something.

IMO, this ranking does just as good, if not better, of a job than US News does. It goes to show one how arbitrary five or ten spots in US News really is, which is always a good thing to remember.

It's no mistake. If you spend time on the Princeton forum (especially this past ED season), you would understand. You can/could refresh every 30 seconds and there would be at least one new post, usually more.

This thread just makes me love CC even more! You guys are crazy! A question. Deep Springs?!!? Why?
