Why doesn't the US use the metric system?

It's just multiples of 10. Why make life so complicated?

We are stupid and think we are better than the rest of the world.

^Yes.

And it’s screwing us over.

^yes, screwing us over badly

Because the Imperial system is deeply ingrained in the culture, and there isn’t that much reason to change.

Obviously science uses metric measures predominantly, but at the same time the vast majority of people in this country live completely segregated from science.

Do I prefer the metric system? Of course.
But there’s no feasible way to fully switch, unfortunately.
Like the other person said, its ingrained in our culture.

Actually we are better than the rest of the world. We could beat the **** out of any country we wanted to and we have the strongest economy in the world.

Got to love the haters.

Cost.

Just imagine replacing every highway sign…

because were the mother *****ing boss! ■■■■ you communist ■■■■■■■!

USA! USA! USA!

I love how people think this is an attack on the United States, lol. Really, take a step back for a second: do you think you are BETTER than anyone else in the world just because you were born in the United States?

Really, this was a thread about a system of measurement, no government.

who cares…

^^I’m not saying we are better, but we are better off. After all we were born in a country that can provide us with medicine and other necessities that aren’t found in other countries. The majority of people here do not suffer from poverty or lack of basic needs.

As far as the metric system goes, yes, I wish we could change it but we have grown accustomed to accepting it.

Also, I just found out that Obama is lifting the HIV/Aids ban. Hmm… I guess it’s necessary but it means more people will have to be tested due to a higher increase of people possessing it.

What does this even mean?

He lifted a 22-year-old ban that prohibited people from entering the U.S. with HIV/Aids.

I don’t see why that would create a significant increase in the number of people catching aids…

“^^I’m not saying we are better, but we are better off. After all we were born in a country that can provide us with medicine and other necessities that aren’t found in other countries. The majority of people here do not suffer from poverty or lack of basic needs.”

w t f are u even talking about. 1. america is not the only country with advanced medicine. 2. there are more homeless people here than in some other countries.

you’re acting like the u.s. is the only 1st world country in the world. christ…

I didn’t say it was number 1, did I? I said that it’s a country that provides us with medicine that isn’t found in other countries.(Ex: most of Africa, parts of China, parts of India, parts of South America etc.) Is that not true? When stating that I was making a comparison. We are one of the more better off countries in the world. NO WHERE in my statement did I ever say the U.S. was number one or the best country in the world. You are simply accusing me of something I never said.

^^It would increase the amount of people with HIV/AIDs, therefore increasing the amount of people who possess it here. I don’t see how that doesn’t make sense.

He didn’t say you did

Granted, but he/she did accuse me of acting like it.

no he didn’t
