Why Drexel/Drexel program?

I am curious to know why students apply to Drexel/Drexel program?
Is it to save a year?

I see from the Drexel Medical college admission stats that the average admitted candidate has 30.5 MCAT and 3.53 GPA.
For the accelerated program, they require a min 3.5 GPA in undergrad and a 31 MCAT.
If the requirements are similar for the traditional route and the accelerated route, is the saving of one year the only advantage of this program?
If so, why is there so much competition for this program?
Am I missing something?

1) Yes to save 1 year
2) Admission to Medical School Requirements other than MCAT and GPA need not be fulfilled such as: Volunteer, Research and Publish, Other Medical Extra curricular activities.
3) The stress of applying/interviewing/rejections to 20-25 medical Schools is eliminated.

Thank you itmom!

I hear that USC Keck program is discontinued and so is Temple/Temple . Is that true?

I heard it as well that USC Baccalaureate/MD program will no longer exist from next admission year.
