The word limit is 500 words right...well I made my essay a paragraph. I think its around 130 words. Is this reallyreally bad??

mine wasn't long either (like 180)...don't worry about it...it's not quantity that matters, it's quality

yeah mine was right under 200 as well...though I'm sure that was a big factor in me not makin semi for scholars. as long as your other stuff is good and your essay actually mentions why you want to go to emory and is genuine, you should be fine

You think your essay will get you rejected?

Try my essay, which weaved in Jurmaine Dupri's and Ludacris' lyrics to "Welcome to Atlanta."

Dont Give A F*$k

Are you sure the limit was 500 words? Mine was more then that. I applied w/ the common app and it didn't say anything about a limit...

Yea, I applied with the common application also, and they said nothing about a limit. Mine was probably close to 600 words...

If you really want to go to Emory, why would you submit an essay that you think will get you rejected? Seems counterproductive....

mine was pretty short and i made emory scholar semifinalist.

This was my Why Emory essay. I didn't get Scholars semi-finalist but I got in EDII. I'm pretty sure it still has errors in it even though i went over it about 20 times.

If Emory University was a person, he and I would be best friends. I drink Coke like I need it to survive; Emory received most of his life-savings from the Coca-Cola Corporation. I got to the top of my class through years of hard work; Emory started out at the bottom of the barrel, and is now one of the leading educators in America. I have a huge desire for knowledge; Emory has the ability to give me this knowledge.

If Emory was truly a person, I would ask him to be my mentor. After all, he can teach me everything Ive ever wanted to learn about business with the help of his son, Goizueta. Emorys house has every accommodation I need to facilitate and catalyze my learning. His other Greek apprentices will ensure that my apprenticeship will not only be enjoyable, but memorable as well. Emorys overseas connections will allow me to develop my Spanish language skills to the fullest and to perhaps become fluent, as I am already very close to being so.
After teaching me all he knows, Emory will be able to introduce me to his close friend, Georgia Tech. While Emory is the Master of Arts and Sciences in Georgia, certainly no one knows engineering better than Mr. GaTech. This will be the perfect opportunity for me to supplement my business degree with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering.
Through our similarities and his knowledge, resources, and relationships, Emory has the ability to help me become the person I have always wanted to be. I can only hope that he too will recognize these similarities and invite me to his home.

^ thats a fantastic essay! what a great idea!

but :( now i feel like i won't get in at all....... my essay is so boring....
and emory places so much importance on demonstrated interest....

hungarianhitman...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
that was hilarious omg.
welcome to atlanta where the playas play omg thats such a good idea i bet they will love that.

do u guys know if theres anyway to re-submit my essay? my paragraph emphasized the fact that im jewish and like emory's thriving hillel and that i like that it is a close-knit community..blahblah. is that bad?

I emailed the counselor in charge of my region and asked to resubmit mine (in the process of writing right now) and she said that's completely fine. So yeah...

please1. Absolutely not...I was considering throwing that down in my essay because my friend who was accepted early last year did. I was stunned by how many members of the tribe were at Emory when I visited. Baruch Hashem.
