"Why Emory" Essay...

Hey guys,

For your "why Emory" essay, did you mention very specific things about Emory that make it special to you? Or did you talk about general things like diversity, willing to learn, etc. etc. In other words, did you name things very specific to the University, like departments and maybe even Atlanta?

I submitted my esssay, and I just talked about the reputation for being open-minded, diverse, brilliant, etc. etc.. do you guys think this is too general?

is it true that emory likes northerners?

I heard it's easier for Georgians to get in. In my Emory essay, I put very specific things like the departments, location, weather, campus, etc. Any top college has a diverse, brilliant student body.. My why Emory essay was way better than my Northwestern essay, but I never got to use the Emory one. I'm kinda sad about that.

It specifically says not to talk about the location or weather in the "why emory" essay prompt....

tru dat. Or the size...

my essay was rather long- i included different clubs, classes, and the people. i set it up so that it was a letter to my mom and brother describing to them what i like about emory and therefore why it's a match. i hope it works! best of luck to you

My Why Emory focused on the major I want to pursue that is only available at Emory, that is basically why I am applying to Emory, but for Emory the essay should be somewhat specific, I think, because that shows interest.

On their website one of their slogans is "Transform the world", and I wrote about how too many people live their lives unnoticed and that I wanted to do something important--and Emory was the first place for me to begin my journey.

i wrote about how jimmy carter does such admirable work and te university's close relationship with him is super cool - i would really throw around the word essay- it was like a short to mediumlength question---- not essay in the normal sense- sry thatsjust my own mental botherings

has anyone been accepted to emory yet?
