How many words is your Why Emory essay?

yes, when they say "half a page," is that with single or double spacing?

For what it's worth, my daughter wrote a "Why Emory?" essay of about 640 words.

If you apply on-line will 640 words fit and appear on the form which is submitted?

Tanmom, my daughter applied online to Emory using Embark. I pulled up her word document for the essay and did a word count to get the above number. I assume it worked for her a year ago.

mine was around 550-600

It doesn't matter. What matters is the content. This essay pulls everything else in your app.together. You need to really let them know WHY you want their school.

My son wrote about visiting, meeting the Dean of Admissions - his excitement about Emory finalized my son's decision. They really care about this essay. Just be really sincere. Length makes no difference. Good luck!

Is it bad that mine is only 350 words?

No. Content is important. I will read it if you want. Believe me, I have gone through this 3 times - 3 kids. And one who is in graduate school so once again.

don, do you think you could take a look at mine please? iv already sent it off but would be interested in what an experienced person thinks of it.

Mine short essays are maybe around...200-250 words. My long essay is 500 max...more like 430. It doesn't really matter the number of words; Emory doesn't want you to be constrained by a number.

karan89,
I would be happy to look at it.
