Why Florida?!?!?!

So was anyone else aware that the University of Florida doesn't take the ACT without Writing?!

I was told that colleges only wanted to see that you took writing once and you never had to take it again, so i didn't. So the only test score UF is gonna consider is my weak 27 ACT score, when my highest composite is a 30.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Duh! UF requires the ACT to include writing. They do not do superscores for ACT, only for the SAT. Thus, the scores that they look at have to be in one sitting.

Well excuse me for my lack of knowledge.
they’re the only school I’ve applied to that does that.

^^^
I guess you won’t be attending UF then.
All the admission information is clearly posted on the UF / admissions web page.

^Exactly my point.

.02 Joe

what other schools did you apply to? every school in florida requires the writing… :/

FSU superscores ACT…UCF doesn’t, does anyone else find that funny?

Ya know you don’t have to be so rude about it.
You don’t know if I’ll get into the school or not.
I actually have a pretty nice trump card that will probably be strong enough to get me in.
And if not, I’ll just take my full ride with extra money from the University of Alabama or Auburn.

^^ Dude… Auburn and Alabama are not that impressive.

“Trump Card” ??

Keep trying.

Oh my gosh, you guys are so catty! Jesus, have none of you ever made a mistake? Yes, he should have read the requirements more closely. But he didn’t, and that isn’t a reason to mock someone.

“Dude… Auburn and Alabama are not that impressive.”

Maybe not, but nevertheless, the fact that he got a full ride to both those schools IS pretty impressive. Many people don’t even go to college. Everyone just needs to chill out and act like human beings. Seriously.

To OP-
Question please-
You got a 27 on your ACT and you also got a full ride
with money left over to both Auburn and Alabama ?
Also, how did you achieve a 27 but super-score came out to a 30 ?

I think he received a 27 one time and a 30 another time. He said the 30 was composite but he took it without writing, so UF is only accepting his 27 with writing. I believe that’s the case…

Is the trump card that you’re black?

You’re right UFbound126 i took ACT with writing when i was sophie and got a 27 and as a junior i took it without writing and got a 30.

@daviddj I don’t have a full ride because of test scores. I’m a National Achievement Semi-Finalist with a high GPA and I go to the #13 best public school in the nation so a lot of schools offer me money and upon acceptance Florida would be one of those schools so I’m pretty hopeful of acceptance (^.^)

Contrary to the belief in this thread I’m not a complete idiot. I’m actually decently intelligent and have a lot going for me. I applied to more schools than just Auburn and Alabama but I don’t even want to say those schools cuz I’m sure someone in this thread will completely degrade me for even applying to them.

And NO I’m not saying I’m a guaranteed shoe in for Florida. It’s still a huge reach school because I’m out of state. I am aware that it is one of the best public schools in the nation and the competition is stiff. I’m just being hopeful.

I hope it all works out for you!

Well, if you are National Achievement, didn’t you take the SAT? Just use that.

Heads I wouldn’t count to much on Uf scholarships. A lot of them are more need base and less merit base.

Here’s my two cents: a 27 composite is great score. I was accepted to University of South Florida and University of Central Florida with a 27 composite. I am still waiting to hear from UF, but I’m positive that with my good stats and the fact that I will be graduating high school with my AA, as well, will be helpful. My recommendation: don’t worry. You will get in with a 27 composite, assuming that your other stats are up to par.
