Why Georgetown

What was your reson for making G-Town your 1st choice school.

Awesome location, nice campus, really friendly students and helpful professors, great job/grad school placement, great internships and political connections, and of course a little bit of prestige (I hate to admit, but I think that that probably played at least a little role in everyone's decisions).

Yeah, if you have stats good enough to be accepted into georgetown, you're generally interested in prestige. For me, it was simple, no other university has a better international relations program than gtown SFS, and the location is really great for internships. I've never been to the campus though...but I can't imagine hating it.

the campus is gorgeous...I liked Georgetown before I visited, but I loved it after I visited.

A top-notch govt. department in the best city in the world for politics. Plus, the internship opportunities are phenomenal.

I have to admit...Georgetown was not my absolute #1 school. Instead, it shares that title with UCLA.

Nontheless, of my private schools that I applied to, Georgetown is #1.

As an intended government major, Georgetown's location is excellent. I also love "old" architecture (the tower has Gothic influences) and Georgetown is gorgeous. I sought to contrast a large public school to a more personal, but still larger private school. The academics at Georgetown are extraordinary. Furthermore, I'm eyeing Georgetown Law Center and I know that most grad students went to the grad school of their alma mater.

(The reason why it shares the spot with UCLA is because UCLA is closer to home, is a good school, has great food, is in Westwood, a good poli sci program, and SoCal weather. Not to mention it costs less).

I haven't really thought too much about where I want to go for grad school, but you bring up a good point. Typically, a prestigious school's graduate program looks very favorably on their undergrads.

Hey eiffelguy- funny that UCLA and Georgetown share your #1 spot, and they also share the same rank in USNEWS. How coincidental (I'm not being sarcastic, it actually is coincidental). :)

Calidan: Are you serious? They share the same rank? What rank is it?

For the reason why UCLA shares the rank, see the edited post.

Yep, they are both #25 in USNEWS World Reports (or whatever it's name is). That's kinda funny that you didn't know that!

PS- your reason for having UCLA tied with Georgetown is the same reason Berkeley is high on my list... though not quite as high as Georgetown. ;)
