i like gtown a lot and am applying EA but i am having trouble on the essay...help!

take your common app essay and add a sentence at the end saying “I believe Georgetown will help me develop these qualities further.”

Really, you need to be honest and be yourself. Show that you truly care and want to be there. I think that admissions officers really know when people are being honest and sincere with them. Also, in addition to the essay, make sure this comes off in your alumni interview as well. These are required, and if you are on the line, it could make or break you!

Georgetown was my absolute dream school and I know that came across in my essays. Let them know you dream of attending Georgetown, but don’t seem desperate.

One thing a professor of mine told me: you should never make the school sound like it’s just a stepping stone to your intended career. Don’t say “I want to be a politician and Georgetown is a reputable school.” Then it just sounds like you want a degree from them (it’s also a sign you might not give much back to the community). Make Georgetown the goal (“I dream of attending Georgetown because…”). Show in your essays and your interview that you want to be an active part of the Georgetown community and take advantage of all the school has to offer.

Remember not to just list reasons you love the school. They already know their strong points. They want to hear about you, not the school.

I hope this advice isn’t too convoluted- I’m tired and not being very coherent Good luck!
